I feel pretty lucky that I can be inspired by just about anything. Everything from architecture to the shadows on a sidewalk. But the appreciation that I have for street art and the city’s blank canvas goes way beyond inspiration. It doesn’t necessarily inspire me to go be creative myself, it’s more the actual feeling I get when I think of the people who made it and why they did. From the subject matter they choose, to the actual medium itself, street art holds a very special place in my heart. I am marveled by the artists who feel that uncontrollable urge to place their message in the public eye- open for scrutiny and often ignored, frowned upon or just plain unnoticed; I like to capture it on film in order to hold it’s place in time, because let’s face it, it’s presence is inevitably short-lived.
